Making a Difference

David’s Story

(For legal purposes the identity of the child cannot be revealed. We will refer to the child by the name of David.)
In 2005 The Canadian Ballet Youth Ensemble received a phone call from a grandmother asking that her 7 year old grandson be given the opportunity to dance in The Nutcracker, a life long dream of the child.  Upon meeting David he immediately captured the hearts of many. The sparkle in his eye of when he was told his dream would come true radiated all around him. Battling everyday challenges of dealing with lymphoblastic leukemia, David rarely missed a Sunday rehearsal. He made his school very proud as he performed on stage, dancing to the role of a chef and hobby horse.  His family couldn’t be more proud of him.

Three years have now passed and David continues to battle this disease.  On January 27, 2008 he celebrated his one year of remission. But on Feb 8, 2008 hope was overshadowed once again when he learned that his cancer returned.  David is a deeply spiritual youngster, who likes dancing, singing and writing stories, and longs to go home and be with his family.

Wise and courageous beyond his years, David has conquered more in life than most adults deal in their lifetime.  Please consider making a difference in David’s life by making a donation towards his medical and legal expenses. Every Little Bit Counts!  From the time of diagnosis, and through out the various treatment programs the financial hardships have been mounting. Your generous contribution can help lessen the financial burdens the family is faced with so that the focus can be on providing a loving and caring environment for David.
