CBYE Objectives
- Provide talented dance students with the chance to appear
with professional dancers and musicians in first class theatrical
venues.
- Educate children in the various forms of art and history.
All performances are focused on arts, education and family
values. CBYE's production of The Nutcracker is the only
one in the world that celebrates Canadian heritage. History
is brought to life by utilizing local historical sites in
production such as Dundurn Castle, and the Battle of Stoney
Creek.
Educational packages are prepared and distributed to all
schools who attend the performance. The Festival provides
opportunities for Canadians to see and appreciate Canadian
artistic achievements.
- Encourage talented dancers to pursue careers in professional
dance. Several graduates personify the goals of CBYE. After
studying at the school they have gone on to study at prestigious
professional dance schools in Canada and U.S.A. Dancers
have been accepted by schools such as the National Ballet,
Royal Winnipeg, Houston Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet.
In 2000, once again recognition was given to a student who
had the opportunity to previously receive training from
CBYE. The student received a scholarship from a prominent
ballet school in Paris which lead to a prestigious award
being presented by the Prince of Monaco.
- Begin development of a professional ballet company similar
to those in cities such as Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and
Toronto. Development began 2001.
- Bring top quality art to the community at affordable
prices and encourage new audiences to experience dance.
- Identify and develop opportunities to tour the Company's
productions to outlying regions as a way and means of increasing
self reliance, enhancing the cultural and economic vitality
of dance in various communities and inevitably leading toward
a more unified infrastructure among dance studios.
- Focus on the well being of children by fostering and nurturing
a positive environment where they can explore their own
inner potentials and build upon their self esteem.
